For those who are hoping to head down the engineering route after graduation, graduate events make for a great opportunity to learn more about the field and make important connections.
According to the Financial Times, 217,000 applicants submitted for engineering and technology courses in January in 2025, a 14% rise on the previous year. With the competition growing, it's never been more important to look for opportunities to get ahead while you're still attending university.

BAE Systems Virtual Insights
A virtual event, this is for predominately female or non-binary STEM students and takes place on the 17th June 2025. BAE Systems is one of the top defence companies in Europe and was founded in 1999. Hiring 107,000 globally, they have roles that include aeronautical engineers, weapons engineers and model-based systems engineer.
At the event, you will gain greater insight into BAE’s 2026 graduate roles. They will discuss the training, the projects and responsibilities. You will also receive advice on the application process and what you can expect during the role.
You will also hear talks from current BAE graduates and their journey. This will inspire you on your own career path. During the event, they will also provide information on ideal candidates who will have the right skill for the graduate jobs.
For those attending, there will be an introduction to the event followed by a graduate panel with talks from those succeeding in the industry. Future Female Engineers
This event which is taking place in October 2025 is for female and non-binary students who want to start their career in engineering. The event offers the chance to learn more about top engineering employers who are hoping to inspire and commit to creating diverse and inclusive workplaces. With a Diversity in Tech report finding only 20% of software engineering in the UK were women or non-binary in 2024, this is a great opportunity to give those in unrepresented in the industry a chance.
During the event, you will get to network with people in the industry and get a chance to speak to top employers and make connections. These will come in useful when applying for graduate schemes. You will hear from women and non-binary engineers about their experience in the graduate schemes and their professional journeys.
You will also find out about different internships, placements and schemes designed to help you have a rewarding and successful career.
During the event, there will be an introduction and icebreaker followed by an engineering related team challenge to break the ice. There will be a skills session followed by a panel Q&A where you can ask essential questions.
Self Made Engineers
For students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, we host the Self Made Engineers event. The careers event which occurs in Central London. Those attending should be studying engineering or a STEM related subject and come from a social mobility background.
During the event, you will get to network with those leading engineering employers who are committed to social mobility and inclusive workplaces. You can also connect with those in the industry who have come from similar backgrounds. There will be panels and speakers who have been successful in the engineering career path.
There will be skills sessions with each firm as well as an engineering related team challenge to help everyone make connections. For those who want to head down the engineering path, they will build confidence as they connect with peers in the industry.
There will also be an opportunity for a Panel Q&A to help guide and support those who want to head down this career path.
