1. What were the most valuable insights or experiences you gained during the Black Heritage into Business Strategy Insight Week, and how did they shape your career aspirations and confidence in pursuing a future at Sky?

I learned just how broad Sky is as a business beyond broadband and TV. Seeing the range of products and commercial teams helped me understand the scale of the organisation and broadened my perspective of the wider business. It gave me a clear picture of how commercial strategy works in practice and sparked my curiosity about pursuing it as a future career at Sky. Experiencing the variety of challenges each day made the work feel exciting and motivated me to explore further opportunities within the commercial teams.

 

2. How did the people and culture at Sky during the Insight Week make you feel supported, represented, or inspired, and was there a particular moment or interaction that made you feel this was somewhere you could truly see yourself?

The people were welcoming and friendly from the very start, which made a big difference. We heard from current graduates and senior managers who had also begun their careers at Sky, and their honesty about their journeys helped me understand the culture and the progression available. Seeing people with similar backgrounds thriving in the business made Sky feel like a place where I could genuinely see myself. It gave me confidence that this was somewhere I could grow, feel represented, and be fully supported.

 

3. How did taking part in the Insight Week help you in developing in your early career and the graduate application process, and how did that experience influence your decision to continue your journey with Sky?

The week helped me gain a strong understanding of Sky as a business and what commercial strategy involves. It played a big role in my decision to stay engaged with the programme and apply for an internship within the commercial teams. The end-of-week group activity boosted my confidence in my ability to work through a commercial problem and motivated me to challenge myself even further in a real working environment.

 

4. What would you say to a first-year Black Heritage student considering the programme, and how do you think it could support their development?

I would encourage any student to apply, especially if they’re eager to learn more about business and strategy. Even though Sky isn’t always viewed as a traditional business environment, there is so much to learn about this industry. The programme helps you understand which roles might suit your strengths and gives you early exposure to real commercial thinking. It’s also a great way to build confidence, meet industry leaders, and get a sense of what a career at Sky could look like.
