The Guardian UK 300: top IT and technology employers

…as voted for by students and graduates

The Guardian UK 300 features the largest and most comprehensive annual survey of student opinion on graduate careers, employers and their own job hunts. The survey determines not only the most popular 300 graduate employers in the UK overall, but also the most popular graduate employers in a range of career sectors, including IT and technology.

The top graduate employers for IT and technology are listed in the table below. The top four employers stay in the same position as last year: Google, Apple, Microsoft and Rockstar Games. However, IBM climbed to fifth from seventh, Intel climbed to number eight from ten and Samsung came in at tenth (having ranked twelfth last year).

Students interested in IT and technology careers…

  • may be among the most entrepreneurial of all students surveyed; 29% agreed with the statement ‘I am thinking about founding my own start-up company during or straight after my studies’ – a figure that is topped only by students interested in retail careers
  • preferred to engage with employers through stands at careers fairs (65%) and on-campus careers workshops (61%)
  • mostly used LinkedIn for career purposes (82%), followed by Skype (24%), Twitter (23%), Google+ and YouTube (20% each).*

Over 62,000 undergraduates took part in the trendence Graduate Study 2017, which formed the basis of the results in The Guardian UK 300 .
