Sophie Moran - Intern Profile

My name is Sophie Moran, and I am currently a student at Loughborough University, studying for a degree in Marketing and Management.

Despite only joining in June 2023, I have had an amazing experience working for Otsuka so far. The company have taken a fantastic approach to integrating interns into the team. Otsuka has really made me feel like a valued member of the organisation rather than just an intern. Instead of assigning only low-level tasks, they have involved me in meaningful projects that have allowed me to contribute to the team’s goals. Also, I have been assigned my own individual projects which has given me great autonomy. For example, I have recently organised an agency exhibition workshop and have been in communication with the affiliates to establish a new content repository. In addition to this, the opportunity for interns to travel is remarkable. I feel incredibly fortunate to be travelling to Prague and Madrid alongside my team. These are just a few examples of Otsuka’s inclusivity towards interns!

What I love about my day-to-day role as a digital marketing intern is that no two days are ever the same. One day might involve diving deep into the analytics of our new HCP portals, while the next day could be focused on brainstorming creative ideas for upcoming digital projects. As I work for Otsuka Europe, being part of a collaboration between the EU affiliates has added an extra layer of richness to my experience. Throughout my day-to-day role, I complete tasks that help to map the EU marketing landscape and ensure cross-collaboration between affiliates. The dynamic nature of digital marketing in the pharmaceutical industry, keeps me on my toes, and each day presents a variety of exciting tasks!

My advice to those applying would be to be proactive and be prepared to demonstrate your willingness to learn. Also, it is important to clearly communicate your enthusiasm towards the role you’re applying for. Remember, employers value candidates who are not only qualified but also genuinely excited about the opportunity to contribute to the organization’s success.
